LOTUS RIVER PLACE

Buck Road, Lotus River, Cape Town

DESCRIPTION

Lotus River Place was the fifth home established by CPOA, opening in 1983 as a purpose-built facility in Lotus River. With a capacity of 120 residents, the home has consistently adapted to meet the evolving needs of the elderly community it serves.

Now approaching 40 years of service, the building is receiving cosmetic upgrades to create a more modern, airy, and welcoming environment. New laminated flooring, fresh paint, and re-upholstered furniture have given the home a refreshed appearance. However, further improvements are still needed. The concrete courtyards are currently stark and in need of renovation, with plans to introduce a gardening project that includes wheelchair-height flower boxes, enabling residents to participate comfortably and meaningfully.

Residents at Lotus River Place enjoy regular interaction with the local community, church services, and a range of therapeutic activities offered daily. A newly introduced art room allows residents to explore creative expression in a relaxed and enjoyable setting.

Lotus River Place is one of two welfare homes owned and operated by CPOA. The facility is privately owned and caters for adults aged 55 and older who are in receipt of a state pension.

Our 120-bed facility offers 24-hour, nurse-led care, supported by the following services:

  • A balanced diet comprising three nutritious meals daily, along with morning and afternoon tea
  • Housekeeping and laundry services
  • Assistance with activities of daily living, including personal care, dressing, and mobility
  • Administration of prescribed medication
  • Therapeutic activities offered twice daily, five days a week, including creative activities, light sports, board games, and more

Lotus River Place provides care for residents living with cognitive and mental impairments such as dementia, those who are physically frail, including bed- and wheelchair-bound individuals, and residents who require assistance with activities of daily living.
